Post Halloween Report

I guess I’ve delayed my post long enough. I know you are all waiting patiently to hear what crazy events transpired over my Halloween weekend. You may be a little disappointed because aside from the usual mayhem and heavy drinking, I kept the bizarre behavior to a minimum.

Friday night I attended a house party in the Valley. I dressed as Hannah Montana, with a blonde wig and bright colored outfit. I looked absolutely nothing like her. My night was pretty much consumed with impressing this person who worked for Jonas Bros management, of whom also rep Demi Lovato. I think what I really came across as was a demented fan. I hate when something is so close you can almost taste it, but never actually comes to fruition.

At some point that night I removed my wig per the request of a couple folks. What I did with my wig afterwards is still a mystery. Like every Halloween before, I managed to misplace key parts of my costume. I lost both my wig and fake microphone. Never fails. I thought I would be up shits creek for the WeHo carnival because the wig was the whole costume. Luckily, as every good lesbian should have, I had a spare blue wig in my closet. Instead of going as Hannah Montana, I was her best friend Lily’s alter ego, Lola. Only viewers of the show will know the reference, to everyone else I was a just blue haired, big boobed, colorful ‘tween.

I was so exhausted on Saturday night. I met up with friends for pre-partying around 530pm. We drank for what felt like a couple hours before walking to the festival. I had a nice buzz going. We sauntered the streets amongst thousands of revelers. I think the most prominent outfits were Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and the characters from the movie “Up”. In fact a couple of my friends dressed as the old man and cub scout, although I thought she looked more like Orvil Reddenbocker. Eventually a few of us scattered off doing our own things.

My group ended up at Girlbar. A shout out to my boy Jim, he got us in immediately, bypassing the long line, and no cover. You know that’s how I roll. Both bars where open to wander, Ultra Suede and The Factory, for one huge party. I love dancing. We stayed for a while but then were persuaded by our growling stomachs to get Gay Pizza. I had been craving a hot dog all night long. I could bath in the aroma of grilled onions. I decided to venture home and I grabbed two along the way.

Sunday I had brunch at Hamburger Mary’s and afterwards went to the Abbey for a friend’s birthday. I should have left when the sun did. Instead I stayed way past my welcome and spent way too much money. Discipline Godfather… learn it.

Self Realization

I started the weekend off last night at East/West. There were green horny devils all around. Horns, courtesy the ladies of Midori. I had my eyes on this one girl but got nowhere in that pursuit.

Here is why I think I am unsuccessful in most of my attempts. I don’t give the person of interest my full attention. I should be hounding her 100% for the entire night. I shouldn’t go off every now and again to talk to others or whatnot. Absence in this case, does not make the heart grow fonder. I used to believe I should dash out making them crave more, in hopes they would come and find me. Alas, that never happens. I see who ends up scoring, the girl who stuck like glue to her waist side. I also now think I should just say what I’m thinking. The blunt approach, to a degree of course. I should make my attraction known. To sum up, keep my eyes on the prize and grow a pair.

West Hollywood Costume Carnival

Calling all you ghouls and goblins and hotbox lesbians... All Hallows Eve is upon us this Saturday. Here are the crucial details you'll need to know if you plan on attending the West Hollywood Carnival.

When: Festivities begin at 6pm with the welcome Carnival March (aka parade). Technically the actual carnival stops at 11pm, but the mayhem always continues to the break of dawn.

Where: March starts at Santa Monica Blvd. and Doheny, but the full event takes place between Doheny and La Cienega (Santa Monica Blvd. is closed).

There will be several stages along Santa Monica, each providing a wide array of entertainment. Bars will be overflowing with costumed patrons. Keep in mind most, if not all, bars will have a cover charge.

Street Closures: Santa Monica Blvd. between Doheny & La Cienega 1pm (Oct 31st) thru 6am (Nov 1st). Robertson Boulevard between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard from 1 p.m. (Oct 31) through 6 a.m. (Nov 1). And the all important parking situation: The City of West Hollywood will suspend permit parking for the Halloween Carnaval from 5 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 to 6 a.m., November 1, 2009. Meters will be enforced. Carnaval-goers are asked to observe the boundaries of West Hollywood; if parking occurs in the City of Los Angeles, all parking restrictions must be observed.

Kings Road Parking Structure (8383 Santa Monica Boulevard)
West Hollywood Park Parking Lot (647 N. San Vicente Boulevard)

Diss This

Rejection is a bitch. I got hard core dismissed last night by some chick and her friend. Whatever. I'm over it. Her loss. I was at Truckstop (why, I don't know) and I met this girl. At first I thought we had hit it off, that there were definite signs she may have been interested. The night went on and I was kept busy catering to my drunk friend who eventually got booted (86'd) from the bar. I stuck him in a cab and sent him home.

When I returned, I beelined straight for the girl. She was with a friend, who gave me a snickering glare when I approached. We were dancing and sure, maybe I was getting a little anxious with my touching, but all of the sudden the two of them left me and positioned themselves in a different area of the dance floor. Did they think I wouldn't know what that meant? I'm not a freakin' moron. After that distasteful experience I couldn't take much more of Truckstop. I hopped in a cab and went home.

Tonight I am attending a friend's Glam-Halloween party. I have no idea what to dress up as, the theme is dead Hollywood Starlets. Or you could dress as a fem character who dies in a movie. So death is basically the theme, but with a little pizazz (I probably spelled that wrong, but I'm too lazy to check a dictionary).

Now tomorrow I get to go see Miley Cyrus AND Demi Lovato perform at some charity concert. I am about to explode with excitement. Plus I have someone looking into possibly getting backstage passes. If that happens, dang, I don't even know how I'll contain my spasticness. Fingers crossed for me everyone.

Since you all aren't as lucky as I, you can spend your Sunday at The Den on Sunset. I've heard it's becoming quite a lesbian hangout on Sundays. Watch football, play flipcup and get great happy hour specials between 3 and 7pm.

APO

Ah yes, I am now vividly reflecting on why I refrain from partaking in weeknight activities. My energy level is way below par, so low I can hardly function. And because I’ve slighted the gods in some manner, they have made work extra frustrating today. It’s not even like I went balls to the wall last night. I simply checked out APO at Rockwell.

APO stands for Authorized Personnel Only and it premiered last night, thrown by the lovely ladies of Fuse. The new venue is pretty cool. It’s an open air, boxed environment, 2 ½ stories, with an awesome upstairs patio, that was sadly unused. There was a nice sized crowd in attendance, the crème de le crème of ladies who always make an appearance at a bar opening. It was definitely not the typical Truckstop bunch, more like women who may know Linda and/or Michelle personally and come to support. Thankfully it was not overridden with the hipster young ones. Rockwell doesn’t seem to cater their rockabilly kind anyway. It provides a chill, upscale, sophisticated lounge vibe for those who actually like to have conversations.

I had been contacted via email by a new-to-Los Angeles lesbian who wanted to witness all that LaLa land has to offer in the ladies department. Her experience thus far had been less than satisfying and she had feared our scene didn’t really exist. After our time spent chatting and mingling amongst the Rockwell patrons, she had a big sigh of relief. I did my best introducing her to those gals I knew. I have to admit though, being a transplant from another locale and not knowing anyone, finding a niche to call your own is truly difficult task. A lot of lesbians tend to be cold and unwelcoming. All I’ve got to say to that is screw you, you aren’t worth it anyhow.

p.s. And you ask why I put a picture of Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries” up along with this post… because I think she’s cute, no other reason.
