Thirsty Tuesdays

Looking for a mellow, contemporary evening? Trying to mix and mingle more like an adult? APO is the answer. A Fuse event at Rockwell in Silverlake, this Tuesday night happens once a month and tomorrow's the day. Check it out: Rockwell is located at 1714 N. Vermont.

If you decide you'd rather stay more local around the West Hollywood area, you can also check out Twisted Tuesday at The Den. Live music on the Sunset Strip. 8226 Sunset Blvd.

I would also like to mention a new bar that is opening soon. Not a designated gay/lesbian bar, this is a place to chill with a few friends and drink beers. It's called The Surly Goat and it's where the old I-Candy/Belly bar used to be on Santa Monica Blvd and Fairfax. Although it will have a full bar, their specialties are the brews. I went for the soft opening on Monday night. I know the owner of a beer who will be showcased there, the Kern River Outstanding IPA. I don't think the bar will have their grand opening for another couple of weeks, but I thought I'd announce it anyway.

Dinah Sneak Peak

I know it's still several months away but there is no time like the present to start planning your yearly trip to the desert, as thousands of other lesbians are doing at this very moment as well. Yup, I'm talking about Dinah Shore. The dates for this years festivities are March 31st thru April 4th. So far it appears that Club Skirts culminated more star power to their lineup of celebrity acts: Ke$ha ("Tik Tok") and Salt N Pepa, not to mention Rosie O'Donnell will have a comedy performance on Friday night. The guest with the highest tab at the end of the night will win two deluxe Girlbar Dinah Shore passes. Both Coors Light and Smirnoff hotties will be mingling amongst the crowd giving away samples and goodies. From midnight to 12:30am there will be an open Smirnoff bar.

Cheap tequila shots from 9 to 10pm. DJ's Kathy Valenti and Saratonin spinning the grooves. Since this is Mariah's party, in the upcoming weeks, get ready for some of their own Club Skirts Dinah Shore giveaways.

Rock The Akbar

I went with a few friends to Akbar last night. Located in the Sunset Junction area it's a fan-favorite gay hot spot. We were celebrating a new year and the beginning of new chapters in our lives. We toasted a numerous amount of times.

My straight girlfriend, whose boyfriend was accompanying as well, was the belle of the ball. She made friends with just about every gay guy in the joint. One even bought us all a round of drinks. She was working very hard trying to hook up our other friend. He wasn't feeling any of her choices though, and she arranged plenty of options. It was all rather humorous. She was getting pretty bombed. Although she's of Irish heritage, her system wasn't handling the whiskey/baileys combination she was consuming. Let's just say, her car needed to be washed this morning, inside and out.

As the night progressed, we started dancing, getting our grooves on. I accidentally almost punctured some girls eye when I pointed at something. I apologized profusely but she was fine. In fact, a song or two later we were dirty dancing together. She was a cute, little thang; also probably straight, being the Grace to her Will that night. One thing led to another and we began kissing. I was on cloud nine, but eventually her gay boy relocated her and drug her away. I didn't even get her name the music was too loud. No matter, I enjoy those fun, in the moment type situations. At least one of my friends took notice this was all happening and can confirm the adorableness of this girl. Such a fun night!! Thanks Sweeney!

Thursday Night Lesbian Showdown

Here's hoping the rainy weather lightens up or stops altogether by tomorrow night. Thursday night, apparently the only night lesbians emerge onto the scene, is completely filled to the brim with exciting activities to choose from, some old and some new. Below find the details on all:

1. VALLEY GIRL - interested in a new venue, away from WeHo or Silverlake, Valley Girl is the answer. Situated at LaBrie's Lounge in Glendale be prepared for awesome live music, DJ's spinning the hottest hits and reasonable drink prices. Not to mention, free admission and parking. LaBrie's Lounge is 2 minutess from the 2, 134 and the 101 freeways and it is 10 minutes from Silver Lake and about 10 minutes from NOHO. (806 E. Colorado Street)

2. JETSETTER at Crown Bar. I had a lot of friends check out their kick off party last Thursday. The venue is supposedly very nice and the atmosphere was super cool. The ladies were all about the dancefloor. Drink specials from 9pm. (7321 Santa Monica Blvd.)

3. FUSE at Eleven. You know the ladies of Fuse never let you down, they always create a sizzling good time. Terrific drink and food specials all night. Two sultry burlesque performances. And dancing, dancing, dancing. (8811 Santa Monica Blvd.)

4. PLATINUM at East/West. Just as fun as ever, E/W provides a more intimate lounge experience with sophisticated ladies, conversation and an overall fantistic time. Drink specials and an open bar from midnight to 12:30am are big draws. (8851 Santa Monica Blvd.) UPDATE: PLATINUM IS NOW PARTNERED WITH GIRLBAR.

5. DREAM at The Kress in Hollywood. This special event will be hosted by Def Jams Recordings female R&B group "Electrik Red". You have until today to purchase advance tickets for $7.00, text 323-363-6474. (6608 Hollywood Blvd.) UPDATE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT THURSDAY, JANUARY 28TH.

6. KYSS at Here Lounge. Former home of PantyRaid, there are some new ladies in the hiz-ouse. Old Skool Party Anthems all night long. Guest DJ Spinderella (Salt-n-Pepa) will be behind the beats. Open bar before 10pm. $5 cover or free with rsvp (kyssclub@gmail.com). (696 N. Robertson Blvd.)

What to do? What to do? Don't you wish we had these types of options on a Saturday night? Why do they all have to fall on the same night and create ridiculous competition? Just points to ponder. Good luck to all in this collossal Lesbian Showdown.
